July is full of sunshine, cookouts, and travel and with Independence Day, there’s even more time on the road and more excitement at home. Summer also means higher chances of accidents, fire risk from grilling, and storm related damage.

Just like the season changes, it’s smart to make sure your insurance coverage stays aligned with what you’re doing right now.

July is a great time to review your auto, home, renters, and liability protection especially before holiday plans ramp up.

With summer activities and holiday celebrations, a few quick checks can help you feel confident if the unexpected happens:

1) Auto insurance for travel and longer drives

If you’re going on road trips or driving more than usual:

• Review your coverage limits (especially liability)

• Confirm you have coverage for any additional drivers or vehicles

• Check that your proof of insurance info is up to date before you head out

2) Home safety for grilling, fireworks, and summer heat

Consider a quick around-the-house safety check:

• Keep grills a safe distance from siding/structures and away from overhangs

• Store fuels and propane properly

• If you use outdoor heating equipment, make sure it’s stable and attended

(And remember: fireworks can increase fire and injury risk so keep celebrations safe and controlled.)

3) Prepare for storms and power outages

In South Carolina, summer weather can change quickly. Take a moment to:
