April in Sumter: A Time for Growth and Protection

April is a month of renewal, growth, and fresh opportunities- just like the insurance coverage and financial plans you need to protect and grow what matters most. As the seasons change and the weather warms, it’s a great time to review your insurance policies and financial services to make sure your coverage and plans keep pace with your life goals.

April Tip of the Month:

Spring storms and unpredictable weather are common in South Carolina this time of year. Make sure your homeowners insurance includes adequate coverage for wind and hail damage. Also, take a moment to update your inventory of valuable items- photos and documentation can make all the difference if you ever need to file a claim. While you are doing this- it is a good time to check if some of these valuables need to be covered by a separate policy (lawn mower, expensive art, jewelry, firearms, etc.).

Who I Am:

I’m Leah Barwick, a Sumter native, Clemson grad, and a State Farm agent who’s deeply passionate about protecting people in all stages of life. Serving the community and the people who shaped me into who I am today is at the heart of everything I do.

After graduating from Clemson with a BS in economics, I dove headfirst into the insurance world, quickly learning that this business is really about people. It’s about being a steady hand when the unexpected happens- whether that’s a fender bender, a house fire, or the loss of a loved one. I’ve built my office to be a place where honesty, empathy, and education guide every conversation.

I’m proud to offer Auto, Home, Renters, Business, Life insurance, and more to the unique needs of individuals and families in Sumter, SC, and surrounding communities. In addition to insurance, I love to help you plan for a secure financial future with the financial services we are able to offer for retirement.

From first-time drivers to retirees downsizing, I love helping people feel confident and protected every step of the way.

Beyond the office, I’m deeply involved in the Sumter community as a member of The Gamecock City Rotary Club and the Sumter Chamber of Commerce. I also enjoy coaching track and field at Wilson Hall during the spring- a rewarding way to support local youth and stay active.

In my free time, you’ll find me with my dogs, spending time with family and friends, hunting, gardening, or cheering on Clemson. I also love connecting with local businesses and sharing a cup of coffee with new and old friends alike.
